My Valentines

Every valentines I give the kids jelly beans and books.  This morning I was running when they woke up, but Josh said Huddy had a Christmas morning reaction to their valentine surprises and exclaimed, “The Easter bunny came to see us.”  Nailed it.

Harper’s beans had been snagged at this point.

The weather was amazing today.  Like tee and flip flop weather.  I came so close to wearing my flip flops.  I spent most of the day with Amon.  He’s joy.  Someone asked if he ever frowns…he does sometimes, but this kid seriously blows us away…the happiest baby I’ve ever seen.

We went to Harper’s ice cream valentines party.  Amon was a big hit.  He got quite a bit of love and it was super fun to watch Harper and her class go through all their valentines.  Way cute.

We ate a lot of sweet treats today.  Like a lot, a lot.  Maybe they’ll sugar crash in their sleep and we’ll dodge the misbehaving wee Kelleys.  But a sugar crash is just part of Valentines…it’s tradition.

I got some serious snuggles before bed too and we read some of their new books.  I always do pictures in stages in hopes of getting a good smiley one.  Always works.

Silly face.

Mad Face.

Suppose to be serious face, but I was the only one who succeeded.

And happy.  This is the one I was after…hard work pays off.

Everyone went to bed early and then Josh Kelley and I enjoyed an in-home-date-night with wings and cupcakes.  It’s pretty much the direct route to my heart.

It was quite the lovely day.  It was full of sweets…sugary ones and wee Kelley ones and Josh Kelley himself.  Hope you all had a lovely Valentines and felt smothered in love today.

Happy Thursday <3 Day.

Running, Baking & A Natural Waist Line

This dude is a crazy man now.  He is all over the place and into everything.  Today while I was baking he dumped out a box of spaghetti not once, but twice.  Geez.  But seriously, how could I be too mad.

Sol said, “Let’s do kiss faces.”  Done.

Harper had her Fun Run today at school.  We all decided to go and cheer her on.  I am so glad we did.  She just beamed the whole time and I may have cried…a lot.  Every picture I have of her is just a blur.  She ran the whole time and was sweaty at the end.  I’m still running my way to 62 miles this month and this made me super excited about the possibility that one day we may run together.  She even said when she got in the car, “The Fun Run was my favorite part of the day.  I really want to do that again.  Can I run with you in the mornings now…and on Saturdays and Sundays too?”

I did a crazy amount of baking today.  Last night way way too late, I baked a gooey butter cake to share.  It was so late I ended up going to bed right after I pulled it out of the oven and then got up at 2:15am to cut it up and put in the refrigerator.  It had to cool.  Then today I baked sugar cookies and chocolate cupcakes and red velvet cupcakes and snickerdoodles.  I did some sampling, but will happily drop goodies off tomorrow…just to say, “Hey we dig you.”  Baked goods can totally change the world.  Mark it.

And this is Huddy’s natural waist line.  That’s about all I feel really needs to be said.  And, you’re welcome.

Hope your day was stellar.  Excited for a lovely Valentines tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday!

Getting Our Valentine On

How was your weekend?  I hope it was really great.  Ours was pretty lovely.  Saturday’s sale was amazing.  I was once again humbled and blown away.  God is too good.  Thank you guys so much.  There is one canvas still available and I’ll probably just leave it up for a while.  You can check it out here.

The weather here was too pretty for most of the weekend.  The kids played outside a ton.  Our canoe is now the cool hang out spot.  I heard Huddy telling Harper the other day, “I told Sol a secret under the canoe.”  It’s tilted up, so they can crawl underneath it too.  Now that I read that back…it doesn’t sound too safe.  #parentsoftheyear…again

We basically chilled in our pjs almost the whole weekend.  We needed some slow time.

Josh is getting acquainted with his iPhone.  I loved looking over and seeing them all trying to get in a picture together.  Still trying to talk him into Instagram…I’ll keep pressuring him until he caves.

We also got our Valentine on.  This week is super busy, but I know will be super fun.  We have Valentines parties and school fundraisers and at-home-dates planned…oh and lots of baking.  We’re sharing the baked good love this week.  So I knew we needed to knock out all the valentines prep this weekend.

Harper picked out cute little 6 packs of Valentine pins in the $1 bin at Michaels.  We cut out some foam hearts, pinned the pin in the middle and she decorated them as she pleased.  Her teacher even sent home a sheet of hearts with all her classmates names, so she just cut those little hearts out and taped them on.  Done.

The boys were a different story.  They decided they wanted to make arrows…out of sticks…for their friends.  Huddy actually talked about sword valentines, but then went with Sol on the arrow idea.  Hmmmm, this is the type of dilemma you likely avoid with girls.  I debated…do I just make them pick something different or do I go with the stick arrow Valentines?  I decided to indulge them…I appreciated their creativity.

Then it started raining before we went to gather sticks.  Josh swooped in remembering we had some wooden skewers.  I cut out felt hearts…Huddy insisted the arrows still had hearts…and hot glued them as the arrowhead.  Then we needed to figure out the feather part.  Josh Kelley again swooped in, grabbed a roll of washi tape and worked his magic.  So so easy and waaaaaay cute.  The boys were thrilled.  They helped with attaching the kit-kats and picked which arrow went to which friend and signed their names.

Amon wasn’t much help.  He just hung out…looking all cute and jazz.

And now I can cross valentines off my list.  I’m going to bake like crazy this week…really yummy stuff…and today I’m packaging up canvases and key fobs to ship out.  If you have already paid for your items, your goodies will go out tomorrow.  Hope everyone has a fantastic start to their week.

Happy Monday.
