Case Of The Mondays

Some days just find me a bit off.  Especially those days which go nothing like I planned.  With a family of 7 you can imagine how sickness just kind of meanders its way through out us.  It’s redonkulous.  So days are a little slower and have to be re-worked and re-scheduled and re-figured out.  Sigh.  I’d planned on blogging much earlier today, but hey, 10pm will have to do.

Saturday was April’s Bible journaling class.  I really love these classes.  I don’t know if people are really learning anything or not, but people keep showing up and I keep having so much fun and as long as people show up we’re going to keep raising money to do good together.

Because of this month’s class we’re going to be able to put together a lot of welcoming baskets for ladies entering the Magdalene Houses.  So excited.  And the next class will be Saturday, May 16th from 1-4.  I will post more information this week, but if you would like a spot(s) just send me a message and let me know if you’d like to join us.

Josh Kelley and I had a rare big kids only date Sunday morning at Legofest.  You guys!!!!  I thought Hudson was going to die.  They all love Legos, but Hudson, well he’s out master builder.  He needs no plans.  No instruction manual to follow.  Just give him a tub of Legos and let his little mind and hands go to work.  We all had such a good time and everything was made of Legos and it was so fun being with just the big 3.  They are like the vintage Kelley kids.

I’ve been trying to wrap up orders and I’m still pressing on.  I have been taking little breaks here and there to make some new small canvases.  People have been asking about pricing and honestly, I just don’t know yet.  I’ve actually made quite a few, but I keep finding them appropriate homes.  So I have no idea if I will sell some or not.  Right now I’m just enjoying making them.  We shall see.

And earlier today I watched Gary Haugen president of the International Justice Mission give his TED talk and then for the rest of the day my mind just continued to think about it.  I found myself tearing up randomly.  Truth and facts and compassion and violence.  Please watch.  He just nails it.

Now to pack some lunches and fold some clothes before hitting the hay.

Peace out Monday.

This Monday Is Our Jam

Well we are officially done with whatever sickness funk we had.  Today we spent almost the entire day out running errands…going to speech therapy, getting our last random school supplies, going to the library and a gazillion other things.  Harper’s exact words about our millions of errands, “Ahhhh, it’s good to be out of the house again.”  Amen little lady.  Amen.

Side Note: Both Hudson and Solomon needed 8, yes 8, boxes of 24 count crayons.  Holy cow.  Apparently they are going to be doing some legit coloring this year in kindergarten.  End side note.

Our weekend was spent hanging around…zero commitments…and getting well.  Lots of resting and taking it easy.  It was genuinely nice.  Playing games and taking naps.  Sunday came and I was feeling so much better and Hudson, who was the last to get sick, was going on 48 hours of no fever.  So what does any normal human adult being decide to do…paint a room.

We have bunk bed assembly starting this week and I have been wanting to paint Harper’s room for a while now.  Josh Kelley obliged and started patching a thousand tiny holes in her walls…and a few rather large ones.  I’m really good and putting holes in walls.  Thanks to some friends who took on 4 small Kelleys for a few hours, we almost knocked the whole paint job out and I finished the last bit today.

I’m excited for this week.  It’s going to be far better than last week, that’s for sure.  It’s our last full week before school starts and Friday we’re meeting teachers.  I have made lofty plans for this to be a dang good week.  Really really exciting.  Today we rocked errands, but slipped in a library trip and a chickfila picnic.

Our house is currently a wreck…full on tornado disaster mode.  Cleanup commences very soon.  It has to.  My OCD mind is going nutso every time I pass by a pile of something that belongs somewhere else.  And you cannot see our kitchen counter.

Unfortunately I just cannot pry myself off the couch with these three just yet.  Amon is napping and were eating Peppermint Patties out of the fridge and watching Swiss Family Robinson.  It’s pretty swoony…disaster house and all.

I hope you each had a wonderful weekend and have an encouraging week.  Mondays can be bummers some weeks, but not this Monday.  This Monday is our jam!

Happy Day!

Case of The Mondays

Our modem went out this weekend and we’ve been without internet…which actually wasn’t all terrible.  I kind of enjoyed the internet free time except when I needed to pay some bills online, wanted to blog and buy Amon an adorable banana shirt. Yes, I know you all have been on pins and needles, but thanks to my friend Ashley E’s recommendation, Amon officially has a banana shirt.  You can all sleep easier tonight.

By the way, thank you for all the banana shirt links you guys sent my way.  You guys are too kind.  Always.

I’ve been enjoying the new Avett Brothers Magpie and The Dandelion.  Like really really enjoying.  Like I can’t quit it.  And don’t want to.  It’s lovely.  And Souls Like the Wheels, well, just don’t, don’t even get me started.  I could seriously get my weep on every time I listen to it.

I told myself I was going to eat really good and drink all my water for the day and you know what, there I was at 11am on the dot in the McDonalds drive-in.  What?!?!?!  I blame the pure craziness of yet another kid’s doctors appointment.  I will spare you all the details, but you know when a human enters an animals cage or sticks their hand in the cage…how the animal backs up into the corner…well, we’ll just let your mind mull that one over.  Turns out too, Huddy has quite the strong man hand grip when shots are involved.

It’s fair to say he officially hates, ummmm, loathes, shots.  I promised him he could pick lunch.  I couldn’t just let the boys partake alone.  And one of Harper’s little friends recently told me their hamburgers were made from dog.  All I could think was, “Mmmmm, dogs are delicious.”

I did go to Zumba tonight, which was quite interesting.  Janet brought her A-Game, but unfortunately I only brought my shoes I wore in the Color Run.  Turns out the very finely sifted cornstarch color, which was clinging tight to the soles of my shoes, only made for extremely slippery shoes on a newly finished gym floor.  I was a hot slippery mess.  All. Over. The. Place.  It was comical.  Brea thoroughly enjoyed watching my slip filled dance moves.

Then I found myself at Target shopping for a Cinderella themed birthday gift for a friend’s little.  Josh text me to let me know we were finally back online.  I high-fived myself in the shampoo aisle.

And that was kind of my day in a small nut shell.  Oh and Amon is still randomly sleeping his way through 2013.  I am now seriously considering making a 2014 calendar with all his random sleeping pictures.  It would probably be on the Best of 2014 Calendars List.  Clearly.

So how was your day?  Hopefully good and fun and full of laughter and hamburgers made out of dog 🙂

Happy Monday.
