I Love Starbucks

My sister-in-law Becky ordered this onesie for her daughter, my niece, Meiya. Becky stays at home with Meiya, but on the weekends works at Starbucks in Memphis. This is the perfect part time job for Becky and she loves it. Becky is such a sweet, sweet person and loves being with people and she loves all her co-workers and the customers. She wanted this special little onesie for Meiya so she could wear it when she visits Starbucks. I thought it turned out great and I went with the Starbucks brown and green. Meiya will be too cute sporting this to Mom’s work.

Here is sweet little Meiya and me…isn’t she just gorgeous?

Bracelets For Our Boy

I had this “great” idea that I would sell bracelets to raise money for our adoption and then I wasn’t real sure exactly how many people would really buy a little hand-put-together bracelet for like $5.  But I still loved the idea of making bracelets to raise awareness for our adoption from Ethiopia.  So here’s the deal…the Ethiopian flag is green, yellow and red, so I got some great beads in those colors and started putting together some cool bracelets.  Now when you make a donation of any amount I will send you a bracelet, just as a little thank you and a reminder of the donation you made to bring home our son from Ethiopia.  Oddly enough Josh and I will wear these bracelets, probably forever.  They will be near and dear to our hearts.  If you are interested in getting yourself this cool little bracelet check out our “donation” button to the right.  Make sure you leave us your address in the “Notes To Seller” part of your check out.  Or if you want to mail a check, just shoot me an email.  Here’s a small sampling of some I’ve made.

Quotes By Kids Art

So my dad’s birthday was the 15th and I have been meaning to post this, but we have been out of our house (AGAIN) since last, last Thursday.  Yes we’re almost at two weeks…long story.  Anyways, my dad is one of those guys that just doesn’t really need anything and if there is something he really wants, he usually will just buy it.  I am always trying to think up good gifts for him and others like him (Big Daddy, Uncle Chris).  SOOOO, I made him this small 8×8 quote canvas.  Here’s the story….Harper calls my dad “Dandaddy” also known as Grandaddy and one day someone came to our door and I didn’t know who it was.  I picked Harper up and hauled it into one of the bedrooms to wait until whoever it was left (later found out it was a teenage boy selling magazines, better safe than sorry).  Harper got all excited and insisted that it was “Dandaddy”.  She kept SCREAMING over and over again with excitement “Dandaddy’s here, Dandaddy’s here”.  I told her in a whisper, “No Harper it’s not Grandaddy.”  Well her excitement went to despair and she began screaming and crying as loud as she could, “Dandaddy’s here.  Let him in.”  She would not quit, over and over and over again she screamed this phrase.  I tried telling her that if it was Grandaddy at the door we would have let him in, but that it just was not Grandaddy.  I’m sure that kid really thought we weren’t home.  Anyways, I decided to make a mixed media piece for my dad using that quote.  I also put the date it was given and Harper’s name and age of when she said this.  I just thought that was the perfect thing to remind him of that sweet story.  I think these would make great, unique holiday gifts.  Forget those cheesy quotes and take one straight from your child’s mouth.  Let me know if you need one as a gift for that special someone.

Big News!

Hello Pitter Patter Art Folks
Some of you already know and some of you don’t, but we wanted to share the news with everyone that Josh and I are starting the process to adopt a baby boy from Ethiopia. Sorry for those that have already heard the details…Josh and I have always talked about adopting one day, even before we were married, then while I was pregnant with Huddy we felt God confirming to us that we would add to our family next through adoption.  I went ahead, even before Hud arrived, checking into the process and asking others who had already completed adoption for some advice (Thanks Brea!)  We knew this is what God wanted for our family, but then started praying about whether to do domestic or international. I never felt pushed either way, I just knew I wanted to be a mom again, but Josh felt strongly that we should do an international adoption. From there God led the way and we are adopting from Ethiopia.  We are beyond excited, so Ethiopia here we come.

Now we are at the beginning stages of paperwork and raising money. We are asking everyone to
please pray for us and this journey we are about to begin and that we do exactly as God would want. We also ask that you guys share our story with whomever you would like (email, blogs, blogrolls, etc) and pass on my website for more information. We have set up a donate button on the right and all money made from any orders will go straight to our adoption fund.  You are now not only getting great quality unique items, but also helping bring our child home.

We will also be having some more fundraising opportunities soon that will be posted on my
site. So keep an eye out. Well that is that and we are so excited about where our family is going.

O Is For…

These two burp cloths are for my MOPS (Mothers Of Preschoolers) table leader, Lisa Orewiler. I finally got to give them to her today so the wait it over for posting these. Lisa is scheduled to be induced next Tuesday with her third child, second little boy. Lisa and her husband always wait to tell people the child’s name, but we do know he is a HE. So I wanted to give her a little something since she has been too kind to me this year, especially with Hud being born. I decided to go with an “O” theme since their last name is Orewiler. I hope she loves them and pray everything goes smoothly next Tuesday.

Kind Words

My Mawmaw always told my mom and in turn my mom always told me, “There is the power of life and death in your words.” And I will teach this to my children as well.  Recently I was having kind of a bad day…you know just one of those “haven’t had time to shower, crazy children, where did the time go and what exactly have I done all day” kind of days.  That’s when my phone rang and a friend of mine, Courtney said that her, her mom Sandra and Courtney’s grandfather Big Daddy were in our driveway and wanted to come in and visit.  I said sure and quickly threw off my pajama pants and at least put on some jeans before they made it to the door.  Well it ended up that this visit was the little pick-me-up I needed.  Sandra had never been to our house and she said the kindest and most complimentary things about our house, Harper and Hud and me.  Josh and I have known Sandra and Courtney and the rest of their family for a long time and we consider them such sweet, sweet, fun people.  While they were here Courtney mentioned that Sandra loves the hymn Love Lifted Me and we were talking about a piece I did a while back for my own mom using some of these lyrics.  Well after they left I could not stop thinking about what Sandra’s sweet words did for my day and decided that I needed to thank her.  So I made her this 5×7 mixed media piece and dropped it in the mail to let her know the power her words had on me.  Thanks so much Sandra!

New Painting

I painted this recently for a friend of mine who just moved into her new place.  I missed her house warming party because I had just gotten out of the hospital with Hud, but still wanted to paint her something for her new place.  I really like how it turned out and I am looking into gettting 18×24 prints made of this painting.  If you would be interested in a print yourself send me an email or leave a comment  and I will get back to you with more information.
