1 Week In

Summer so far is just what I was needing, but I can say I am substantially more tired than normal since 7 days ago when summer officially started for us.  I can’t imagine why 🙂

We may already be taking full advantage of Sonic happy hour and have been frequenting it more than just on Fridays…our school year rule.  And did you know Sonic now has 25 flavors of slushies?!?!  We are easily going to try all the different flavors.  I’ve been letting Amon have his own small slush too…this may or may not be so me and the big kids can try and new flavor of slushy without forfeiting our favorite flavor in fear of getting a dud of a flavor.  Amon doesn’t care what is in the styrofoam cup just as long as there is some sort of liquid he can suck from that red straw.

I taught Solomon how to do laundry.  All the kids were bringing down their dirty clothes and Sol decided to hang around a little bit longer asking questions and offering to help, so I just decided to teach him and he did everything all on his own.  It was kind of adorable and I foresaw a grown man, hubby and dad…helping out and doing laundry.

Baseball is almost over for Hudson and Sol, but Josh’s is just beginning for the summer.  We love going to his games with our favorite Full Count guys.  Amon loves to watch.  This is literally right before our friend Adam crushed a home run into left field.

Naps.  Not only has Amon been napping harder than ever…I assume because he’s going harder than normal, but I have issued a house wide rest time for everyone around the same time everyday.  The big kids don’t have to sleep, but they have to stay in their beds and can look at/read books.  It’s becoming part of my survival summer kit.

I think Barnes & Nobel is going to be on our regular summer schedule.  The kids area is perfect for all of them.  They have tons of books and a train table which Amon loves.  Everyone is quiet and calm and reading.  And Amon is distracted 🙂  Huddy and Sol decided to buy a  new book with their own money, but Harper opted out this time.

And it’s not really summer yet until we hit up the wave pool…or Wave Country.  It’s probably our most favorite summer activity.  Josh has never gone with us because he’s always working, but he got to go Monday since he was off for Memorial Day.  And it did not disappoint.  We take our lunches, sunscreen, goggles and towels…and camp out wave side for practically the whole day.  I heart giant pools and over sized inter tubes.

So what all are you doing this summer?  Any big fun plans?  Have you already been to Sonic too many times as well?  Did you try to the atomic lemon slush?  If not, don’t do it.  #immediateheartburn

Happy Wednesday!
