Grateful Giveaway

Well here we are…another giveaway.  This one is a bit different from  the last few.  I will have quite a hard time letting this one go and not because I think it’s so great, but because I am sentimental about it.  Our family has been receiving Kroger gift cards in the mail since near the beginning of the year, from someone totally anonymous.  They always come near the end of the month and I venture out to the mailbox and there mixed in with our mail is a small, bubble wrap manila envelope with our address, a bogus return address and an amazingly generous Kroger gift card…that’s just the way it has been.  The first one we received I cried.  I started calling all kinds of people accusing (in a good way) them of being the anonymous person.  And back to that bogus return address, I know it is bogus because I exhausted myself, along with Josh and my brother Chris, trying to Google Earth it, Google it and I even went so far to call the post office…a little crazy?  Well yes, but I am a huge “thank you” person.  It is just in my blood.  I try my darndest to send a thank you note for nice things people do for me or our family.  You will never come to one of my kiddo’s birthday parties and not receive a handmade thank you note in the mail a few weeks later.  That’s just how we roll.  My mom instilled this in me and I will pass this along to my kids.  So I just could not imagine not thanking whoever this was.  I mean, they NEEDED and DESERVED a spectacular handmade thank you note and I was itching to make it and write it.  Then my sister-in-law Kim told me that whoever this was wanted to be anonymous and I should just leave it at that and be thankful.  So I did.  I always put a thank you up on my Facebook and on here, just in case whoever anonymous is, is reading because I want them to know how insanely grateful our family is.

Now back to the giveaway.  I could never bring myself to toss the little envelopes the gift cards would come in, so I started stashing them away.  Each envelope had lots of stamps on them…all 1 cent or 5 cent…all small increments, so the wheels started turning.  So in honor of whoever is sending us the Kroger gift cards–this giveaway is for you.  Part of me wanted to keep it, but I knew that what better than to give it away, like this person or family has so graciously given to us.  So up for grabs is this 10×10 “grateful” mixed media piece.  It has every stamp that has adorned these sweet little envelopes.  Do you see why I love this?!?

You can enter lots of ways…as always:

Please leave a separate comment for each entry because I do write down all the names on little slips of paper and let my oldest and girliest assistant draw the winner (AKA Harper).  Separate comments just makes it a bit easier 🙂  The giveaway will end Monday night, really late because those are the hours I keep.  I will announce the winner on Tuesday.

And here are some  recent orders.  These key fobs are headed to Vicki in California (UCreate key fob winner), Elisabeth in Virgina and Tracy in Hendersonville, Tn (Little Bit Funky key fob winner).  Elisabeth wanted a special key fob for a lady who had donated a very generous amount to their adoption fund for their daughter Leah…I just loved this key fob.  Thanks so much ladies and hope you love them.

This next order was placed by Angie in Arlington, Tn.  Angie wanted a camera strap for her camera.  She already had the extra hardware and just needed the strap to be 30″ and the key fob hardware on both ends.  I love her fabric choice and color combination.  Thanks so much Angie.

This next baby set was ordered by Ellen in Hendersonville, Tn.  Ellen is my “always returning” customer and I love her for it.  She needed a sweet little monkey baby set and left the rest up to me.  I really like how it turned out.  Thanks so much Ellen, as always.

This next sweet little piece is headed to Lori in Hendersonville, Tn.  Lori had a Pitter Patter gift certificate and was ready to cash it in for her new little boy Beckett.  She ended up deciding on a 8×10 canvas and wanted the scripture Mark 12:30.  She also liked the idea of the letter b in a circle, so I went with it and I love how it turned out.  Thanks so much Lori and hope it looks perfect in Beckett’s room.

And lastly, these two Names of Jesus pieces are headed to Crissy in Georgia and Mary in, well ??…Mary’s is a gift and thought her info should remain nameless and maybe her name isn’t even Mary at all 🙂  So we will just leave it at that.  Crissy and her husband chose the 24×36 canvas to go over their mantle in their home…love it!  And Mary’s is a 16×20 canvas…perfect to go just about anywhere.  Thanks so much ladies!

Happy Friday and good luck in the giveaway!

What a sweet story about the thank you notes…I remember your Mom always making sure you and Chris sent a note. What a nice thing she taught you and equally nice is that you are passing it on to your children. Not many people actually take the time to send a personal note…email has made us lazy!! You are such a sweetie and I am blessed to be your aunt…God bless you, Josh, and the kiddos!!

  40. Laura,
The ‘Grateful’ piece is beautiful, and even more beautiful when I read your story behind it. Having been the recipient of many acts of kindness, I know the type of gratitude you speak of.

My comment is this. A long time ago, from a deeper place in my heart than I can identify I had one simple prayer. ‘Lord, my desire is to be the most thankful child You have. Release me to be relentless in the gratitude that I express to You everyday-not only for what You have done for me- but what You do for others. ‘

And Grace from my husband who has learned how to love me even when I make that very difficult. Thank you for creating this piece of art that anyone could see as spoken from their own heart.

What a great, inspiring story. As a former missionary…I have plenty of stories like this. I needed to hear this….as encouragement. I never had money problems…and in fact always gave lots to others in need. But my son, Hezekiah, was born…and is medically special needs. He has already had 3 surgeries…one to get a stomach feeding tube, one cranial surgery on his skull, and one just minor. I planned to take 12 wks maternity leave from teaching…but it ended up being almost a yr…unpaid. I lost over 30,000 in income…and we have never recovered. My son has weekly therapies…too many doc appts to count, as well as monthly formula. Even though I have good insurance, they do not cover everything. He has recently stopped talking a lot…losing words he used to say, etc …so we have genetics testing and a developmental delay screen coming up..which insurance may not cover. We are at the breaking pt..and just heard the state is gonna stop paying for daycare in 3 months…so I know God is bigger! 215. I am grateful for so many things, too many to name. But I was sent this link from a dear lady that goes to our church. As I was reading your story about being grateful, the first thing that came to mind involved this incredible lady and her husband. When my husband and I first moved to this area, we were not involved in church, but we were seeking to find the right church. We visited many but felt like outsiders everywhere we went. We found a church we liked, but still knew no one. At a breakfast event they were having we came thinking we might meet someone, but all the tables seemed full and everyone already seemed to be involved in their own conversations, so we sat at a big round table by ourselves. It wasn’t too long after that I got a glimpse of a man standing up, picking up his plate and coffee and walking toward us. Mr Harold had left his friends at the table he was sitting at to come join us at our table. He made us feel incredibly welcomed and loved. Thirteen years later, he and his wife, Mrs Margaret, are two of our very favorite people and because of them we are part of an incredible church family. That day we made a life long friend, and we were challenged with a life long lesson to get out of our comfort zone and seek out those who feel left out. For that, we are forever grateful!

  216. I am gratefull for my dear husband because today is our 11th wedding aniversary and I am just feeling like he is awsome today! It has been a pretty good 11 years 🙂

  258. I am grateful that the Lord has chosen us provide a forever family to two little orphan girls in Ethiopia. It is so radical a call and people question me all the time if we can handle two more kids since we already have three active boys! But, I am confident that when God calls you to do something, He promises to equip you. It may not be easy, but we eagerly await the day when two precious girls will be playing among our silly boys and we will again be grateful for God allowing us to be a part of a miracle of adoption.
