Orders, New Fabric and Giveaway…Oh My!

I’m glad you all enjoyed and had a good laugh at my Black Friday shopping.  It’s not easy opening up and showing my truly crazy side 🙂  I have lots of new orders that have been completed that I haven’t had a chance to post.  I have been so busy with all my training and conditioning for my mad dash through the Black Friday stores.  So finally onto some orders.  This first order is headed to Brianna in Memphis, Tn.  Brianna wanted some sweet U.S. tees with hearts over Seattle and Birmingham to show some love.

Brianna also needed a huge set of key fobs.  Thanks so much Brianna and hope everyone loves them.

This Africa tee was ordered by Jessica in Texas.  Jessica wanted her heart over Rwanda to show some love as well.  Jessica also has a great site she recently started.  You must check out Noon Day Collection HERE. There is a face behind every purchase and every purchase helps provide a pathway out of poverty for the oppressed.  Thanks so much Jessica.

And I have been working on lots of art pieces lately.  This first 12×12 Names of Jesus canvas was ordered by Emily in Murfreesboro, Tn.  I love the 12×12 size and it’s not ordered that often, so it was fun to do a new size.  Thanks so much Emily.

These next two 8×10 canvases are headed to Katie in Bretwood, Tn.

Katie also wanted a few key fobs.  Thanks so much Katie for your business and hope everyone enjoys their gifts.

This next order was placed by Jessie in Georgia.  She wanted a 8×10 Avett Brothers canvas and a 10×10 LOVE canvas.  I really like how both of these turned out.  Thanks so much Jessie…so appreciate your business.

And this 11×14 canvas was ordered by Marilyn in Lanoir City, Tn.  She wanted a hip girly canvas with a special Avett Brothers lyric for her daugther.  Thanks so much Marilyn and hope your daughter loves it.

I also have had a few moments to make some things on my own.  I have been saving the selvage from some of my favorite fabrics and made up some scrappy new key fobs.

And Harper recently asked me to make her a Christmas tree shirt.  I love when she is so excited about something I make her.  She loves it.

I also have picked up some new fabrics.  They are already added to my fabric selections page.  I am totally in love with lots of these.  CANNOT wait to use them.

Now for giveaway info.  If you want to win this set of key fobs

Or one of our adoption tees

Head over to my friend Erica’s blog HERE and enter to win. Winner will be announced tomorrow morning.  All you have to do is leave a comment and if your name is drawn I will have your prizes in the mail asap.  And don’t forget our adoption tees are on sale now through the end of 2010 for $20 shipped.

We want the last of the tees gone.  Help us make that happen.  Happy Sunday!

Thanksgiving Highlights

Thanksgiving has come and gone and along with it went maybe my most favorite holiday — Black Friday.  We had a blast eating our big family Thanksgiving lunch.

Fun family time was had.

And more jumping pictures were snapped.  My niece Campbell is becoming quite good at her picture taking timing.

–note:  I rocked my Uganda beads at Thanksgiving.  Warning: they do not go well with jumping.

But then it was time to get down to Black Friday business.  You may remember my last years shopping extravaganza…so I had lots to live up to again this year.  I have to give props to Josh because he loves me even for my craziness and is totally on board each year when Black Friday roles around.  He knows it’s coming and just accepts that his wife just might show up on the late night news running mad through Toys R Us.

This year my shopping partner was my sister-in-law Jen.  She was very “I’m in”  “Oh no, maybe I’m out”…etc, etc, etc.  So when it came time for her to make her final decision, I knew I needed some clear guidelines she would have to commit to.  So it only made sense to write up some type of contract and have her sign and date it.  Jen signed her contract and returned it to me on Thanksgiving Day.

Her contract was as follows:

I, Jennifer Vaudrey am committing to the awesome and insanely crazy Black Friday shopping with Laura Kelley.  I am committing to getting in line outside of the first agreed upon store location on Thursday, November 25th, 2010.  This may begin as early at noon after Thanksgiving lunch, depending on the first shopping store location and their opening time.  I am committing to staying in line the entire time and not skipping out because it is too cold or I am too tired or any other lame reasons.  Bathroom breaks and scheduled car-naps will be negotiated.  I agree to talk with total strangers and form a small communion of sorts, but all while keeping our main shopping goals and strategies under wraps.  I agree to talk smack or push if someone tries to get in front us in line or tries to push their way through when the store doors open.  I agree to run as quickly as my short, slow moving and small legs will carry me to ensure that the best deals are gotten.  I agree to attempt some sort of conditioning to make sure I am in perfect store running condition…this needs to include practice for the shopping cart push and run move.  I agree to prepare appropriately by scouting out stores and where my sought after items will be located in each store.  I agree to have my shopping list written down on paper by store location name.  I agree to have my Thanksgiving Day paper with me at all times.  I am fully committed to making a fool of myself on behalf of Black Friday shopping and getting the best deals there are out there.

This was clearly the only way to get her to really commit to what Black Friday had in store for us.  Before we headed out to get in line Jen tested out her choice of lawn chair that would be her best friend over the next 24 hours.

She opted for the beach chair that would lounge.  Good choice Jen.  And then it was here…it was time to suit up and head out.  I headed out first and Jen joined me shortly after.

The weather was awesome early on…I even wore flip flops to Thanksgiving.  The Black Friday wait at Toys R Us began pretty warm and a little windy and

a lot empty!  #1 feels nice.

But sadly the warm and windy weather and being alone in line soon came to an end.  It didn’t take too long for other Black Friday crazies to start joining us in line.  And when I went out on my first bathroom run (as agreed upon in our contract) at the near by Walgreens, the bottom absolutely fell out.  And I came back to this.

I have to say that I love that Jen is still sporting her “I’m #1” finger even when her umbrella is flipped inside out and doing her no good in the monsoon.  And no she does not know the lady she is hovering upon.  But it shows me that she embraced the “I agree to talk with total strangers and form a small communion of sorts” part of her contract.  Unfortunately, I will now have to add a clause to next year contract: “If shopping partner is out on her negotiated bathroom break and the bottom absolutely falls out of the sky, I will cover her chair up, so to avoid a sopping wet seat for the rest of the insanely cold night.”  Needless to say my chair was drenched, but Jen is a rookie.

My brother-in-law Andy and Mr. Kelley were both kind enough to come by later in the night and bring us dry pants, shoes, socks and a pair of dry chairs, that we saved for when we got in line at Target.  At Toys R Us the line continued to grow.

The rain continued to fall.

And the temperature continued to drop through out the night.

We even struck up a friendship with Tony, one of the four police/security men that were on duty.  Toys R Us really stepped up their game this year in the security department.

But then it was opening time and Jen and I were pumped.

We came, we waited, we ran and we conquered.  The best thing about having a partner, especially in Jen’s case when her list is a mile long, is that the other person can help you grab all your goods.  So what did I leave with it?  Well a $19.99 hot wheels scooter for my nephew Jack and a Santa Sing-a-ma-jig for my friend Brea.  Yep…that’s it.  Black Friday is about the deals, for sure, but for me, it’s also about the crazy, fun excitement.  After Toys R Us, we high tailed it over to Target and made it #16 in line there.  After Target opened, we hit up a more stores, got lots of great deals and filled Jen’s van with the goods.

I made it home by 7:30am.  Yes, I was awake for over 24 hours, but it was totally worth it.  Harper took my picture shortly after being home.  Do I look tired or what?

So this Thanksgiving I am thankful for:

*My God who is ever loving and forgiving and grace showing

*The best husband and friend I could never even have dreamed up

*My three kiddos who bless and crack me up everyday

*My fourth child who I have yet to see his face, but can’t wait to

*My family who is always there

*Dear and sweet friends

*Food in my stomach

*Clean water to drink

*A safe house to go home to

*Business that is amazing, customers who are a pleasure to work with and getting to do what I love

* and Black Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Cuteness & Christmas Orders

I just had to share two sweet pictures with you tonight.  First our kiddos had a little program at church today.  Harper was in the back row and I could barely get a picture of her, but she sang her little heart out.  The boys on the other hand, were on the very front row, but never opened their mouths and just had this deer in the head lights look the entire time.  Josh and I really got a big kick out of it.

And tonight was a bath night.  We are terrible at having regular baths each week and I will just go ahead and admit it, but my kids are lucky to get two baths a week, even if that…don’t judge 🙂  Tonight I started their water and turned around to get their towels and just like that…

Ughhhh, he just melts my heart.  He could not wait to get in that bath.  LOVE, LOVE, triple LOVE him!

On a total different subject – I know I have seen an adoption fundraiser where the family was selling pillow pets or pillow pals, but I just cannot find them now.  If you know the site or family or any information please let me know.  I am looking at buying some for Christmas gifts this year.

Now onto some orders.  I am so excited because I am in the home stretch on my order list.  I can’t wait to finish everything up and get started on Christmas gifts, new ideas and some GIVEAWAY items!  YEAH!!

This set is headed to Jill in California.  Thank you Jill…it was a total pleasure.

This order was placed by Cara in Texas.  Care wanted a sweet little classy tie onesie and a key fob set.  Thanks so much Cara.  It was a pleasure as always.

And this 16×20 remembrance canvas was ordered by Kelsey in Florida.  She wanted a special gift for her best friend who recently lost her mom in a battle with cancer.  Such a bitter-sweet order.  Thank you so much Kelsey for asking me to make such a special gift.  It was an honor.

Lastly, we have been mailing out tees like crazy.  They are still on sale for $20 shipped and I am getting them in the mail quick.  So place your order and they will be on their way.  We would love to see them all gone by Christmas.  Thanks everyone!  Happy Sunday.

And There You Have It

Well wouldn’t you know after mentioning really wanting our I-171H…it arrived…Monday to be exact.  I am so crazy excited I can hardly stand it.  When it showed up, I immediately emailed our Ethiopia director and she said to scan it and email it on over…no need to mail it in…let’s get on that list.  So we are officially waiting.  We have a phone meeting with our director tomorrow to get all the details.  I cannot wait to hear what she has to say.  Let the waiting game begin!

And in other exciting news.  You knew it was coming.

It had to be done.

We could wait no longer.

Yes, the Christmas season has officially begun at the Kelley house.  The tree is up,

the stockings are hung,

the first pan of green Rice Krispies with Christmas sprinkles has been made,

the Little People’s Nativity is being played with and fought over everyday,

the deciding on what to put in our advent wreath this year has begun

and we are listening to Christmas music everyday.

Now if I could only get that one person to commit to Black Friday shopping with me, everything would be ready for the holiday madness to start.

And speaking of madness–I am making major headway on my order list.  Check out recent orders completed.  These sweet Baby Bro and Baby Sis tees are headed to Susan in Iowa.  Thanks so much Susan and hope your little cuties wear them well.

This sweet little 8×10 canvas was ordered by Hannah in Kansas.  She wanted a special canvas with just the right verse for her new little girl’s room.  Thanks so much Hannah.

And this one is headed to Courtney in Virginia.  Thanks so much ladies.

And our adoption tees are on sale for $20 shipped.  Mailing out a bunch tomorrow…buy one and join the club 🙂

Happy Tuesday!

T-Shirt Sale & More

Saturdays are good especially when there is some of this going on:

I heart their messy creativeness.  And, yes, that is Sol’s go-to smile lately.  Gotta love it.

We have been selling our adoption tees like crazy–THANK YOU!  It has truly been amazing to see these tees headed out all over and we are truly grateful.

We would love to see what shirts we have left gone by Christmas, so we are offering a sale on our tees from now until the end of 2010 for just $20 a tee and that includes shipping.  These are such unique shirts and would make great Christmas gifts or stocking stuffers.  Also we would love for you to help us spread the word.  So please feel free to share.

Just make your donation of $20 and add your name, address and size to the “Instructions” part of check out and your tee will be on its way.

We are still waiting on our I-171H.  It’s so funny because with Sol’s process, we literally got our immigration paper in 21 days…crazy right?  So it has been kind of hard waiting on this one little paper to put us on the list, especially since we got out dossier and home study done so quickly.  But we completely know that God’s timing is perfect, so we will just wait and I will continue to run to the mailbox each day with anticipation.  I feel as if I owe our mail guy some explanation for my stalkingish mannerisms.

And in the mean time, I am still working away and adding funds to our adoption account.  So here is what has been made up these last few days.

These little giraffe tees were ordered by Stephanie in North Carolina.  Her two little boys are giraffe fans.  She loved the giraffe print fabric and knew her boys would too.  Thanks so much Stephanie and I know your boys will sport these well.

I have lots of Africa tees headed out.  Anabell in Florida mailed in some long sleeved tees she wanted adorned with Africa to show some love.  Thanks again so much Anabell…we so appreciate it.

These giraffe Africa tees were ordered by Jennifer South Carolina.  Thanks Jennifer and hope you love them.

And some China tees are headed to Leslie in Illinois.  Leslie wanted tees for herself and her daughter to show some love.  Thanks so much Leslie.

This 18×18 Adopted canvas was ordered by Janine in Michigan.  She wanted a special gift for a family who is about to bring home their new little ones from Africa.  I added the family name as a small new detail.  Thanks again Janine and hope the family loves their unique and special welcome home gift.

This sweet 5×7 bow holder was ordered by Nina in Illinois.  This is a special gift for her new little sister.

Nina also needed some key fobs for some Christmas gifts.  Thanks again Nina.

And lots of other key fobs headed out this week also.

This set is headed to Amy in North Dakota.  Thank you Amy and hope everyone loves their key fob.

These key fobs were ordered by Amanda in Texas.  She wanted some special teacher gifts.  Amanda sent me the teachers favorite colors and favorite verse or quote and let me do the rest.  Thanks so much Amanda…hope they love them.

Joy in Idaho ordered this next set of key fobs.  Thank you again Joy.

These key fobs are headed to Lyndie in Georgia.  Thanks so much Lyndie…I so appreciate it.

And lastly this set of key fobs was ordered by Laura in Kentucky.  Laura is doing the Esther Bible study and wanted a special little something for the ladies in her Bible study.  I really love this idea.  Thanks so much Laura.

Thanks again for all the business.  Again I cannot say that enough.  Happy Saturday!

Thoughts On Time Change & Christmas Excitement

Totally random beginning to this post, but oh the time change.  The boys usually sleep until around 7:30ish and Harper the same or even later.  My boys are busy…super, super busy so they always go to bed around 7.  But the time change has messed with their wake time and they have taken on some new habits with this.  I like to say they are like the Special Forces or Black Opts…they like to unplug their monitor first and then wreak havoc together.  Their new thing has been climbing on top of their toy box and checking out the neighbors.

And this morning they turned their sink water on and Josh found them soaked head to toe in water, along with their blankies and a giant puddle in the floor.  Oh how they keep us on our toes.  So three days after the time change and they are sleeping a little later than 6:30, so they are getting really sleepy during the day.  Huddy actually fell asleep while Josh was holding him on the couch at like noon!  I cannot remember the last time he just randomly fell asleep somewhere.  He is a bed sleeping kind of kid, so this was so random and out of the blue.

They have been playing lots of games in bed because of their new early wake time.

Over the last three days I have found the boys just resting more than ever.  They have become more snuggly and honestly, I kind of like it.  They are just plain tired.  Hoping they recover soon, but keep the snuggliness.  Josh and I are night owls so this new early waking is just not cool.  Harper continues to just sleep away.  She’s easy and would sleep through a hurricane, so she has been totally good with the time change.  And on another note…I am so excited about Christmas.  We have talked about putting up our tree…I cannot even count how many times.  Aunt Kim even bought the kids Christmas tree glasses to get the holiday season started off right.

I am just giddy with excitement.  I am already planning for my Black Friday shopping and trying to find a shopping buddy to hang with all night long.  Makes my stomach all nervous and butterflyish just thinking about it.  And I have been working like crazy on orders.  So here is what has headed out recently.

Bridget in New York ordered this Africa tee to show some love.  I told you guys this fabric choice has got to be number 1.  Definitely currently my most popular choice.  Thanks so much Bridget and hope you love your tee.

Amanda in Franklin, Tn wanted a sweet little Big Sis shirt.  Thanks so much Amanda and hope the new big sister loves it.

This next set of key fobs were ordered by Gina in Knoxville, Tn.  Thank you Gina and hope everyone loves them.

These key fobs are headed to Jean Ann in West Virginia and Dusti in Texas.  Thanks so much ladies.

This next set of key fobs were ordered by Vicki in Texas.  I have decided that key fobs have become the perfect little Christmas gift and I love that.  Vicki also wanted a 1/2 charm with her little girl’s initials for her charm bracelet.  Thanks again Vicki.

This sweet Big Sister tee is headed to Kristen in Franklin, Tn.  She needed a special gift for a special little girl who is about to become a big sister and meet her new sibling.  Thanks so much Kristen.  I so appreciate it.

Ellen in Knoxville, Tn ordered these cool baby sets.  She needed some special little baby gifts for some new little guys.  Thanks so much Ellen, as always!

My mom actually ordered the next baby items.  She bought these sweet little onesies and had me add letter a’s for sweet baby Ava.  She also wanted a bib and some cute burp cloths.  Thanks so much mom!

These next tees were ordered by Jennifer in California.  We actually went to Ethiopia with Jen when she went to pick up her sweet twin girls.  Oh the fun these girls added to our trip and the fact that they are apart of Sol’s story.  We loved playing with them and loving on them and particularly jump roping with them.

Jen it was pure joy to make these for them.  Thanks for asking me to make up something special just for your girls.  I know they will sport them well.

And this Saturday from 6-9pm I will be in our church’s art show.  I am so excited about this and cannot wait to see everyone’s art and hang out.  I think it is going to be too much fun.  If you are in the area come out and see us.  You can see more details here.

All year we have been studying about different names of God.  They asked us to choose from the twelve particular names and come up with art pieces that represent those names.  Honestly, it has been so long since I have just been able to create on my own.  I love what I get the privaledge to do, but I have been so busy with custom orders, that I haven’t had anytime to just create any ole’ thing I have wanted to.  So this was a breath of fresh air from my creative brain.

12×24 Living Water canvas

18×18 Servant canvas

15×30 Door canvas

These will all be for sale at the show.  If they do not sell they will be up for sale on my site next week…ready to ship.  Happy Wednesday night and thanks again everyone for your business.

Art Show Coming Up

If you live in the area I am participating in our church’s art show this year.  It is November 13th from 6-9pm.  You can view more details here.

Our church has been studying particular names of Jesus each month for 2010 and the art show is showcasing art pieces made complimenting different names we have studied.  Each artist was asked to submit at least one piece, max three pieces.  I chose Living Water, Servant and Door.  I am just so excited about this.  So come out and see me and the other artists participating.  There is sure to be some awesome pieces available for sale.  Cannot wait.

I am still so busy making things and getting things mailed out.  It feels great to be crossing orders off my list and knowing that there is an end in site.  I also have tons of new ideas rolling around in my head and cannot wait to create some new items for sale and for Christmas presents.  Pretty sure there will be some of these made up for my cute little nieces.

Here are some new orders I have recently completed.  This 24×24 canvas was ordered by Laura in Hendersonville, Tn.  Her little boy is about to be baptized and he loves Jim Elliot.  She wanted that perfect piece to give him on the day of his baptism…something he can keep for life.  I love how the outline of South America turned out, love the plane and I added the plane number and the date of his baptism just as a special reminder.  Thanks so much Laura.

This next order is headed to Jessica in Texas.  Jessica wanted a set of key fobs and a sweet little tooth pillow.  Thanks so much Jessica.

This next set of key fobs is headed to Rebecca in Texas.  Rebecca wanted first name initials.  Thanks so much Rebecca and hope everyone loves their personalized key fob.

This next set of key fobs was ordered by Shanna in Canada.  Shanna wanted some special teach gifts.  Love all the fabrics you chose Shanna.  Thanks again so much.

These 2 key fobs are headed to Meredith in North Carolina.  She wanted an Africa key fob and a matching South Korea one.  Thanks so much Meredith.  I so appreciate it.

And lastly these two Africa tees are headed to Codi in Texas.  Lots of Texas orders 🙂  Codi wanted two Africa tees to show some Christmas love.  And LOVE LOVE LOVE this paisley print on red.  Thanks again Codi.

Thanks again everyone and if you are in the area next Saturday please come out and see me at the art show and a bunch of other wonderful artists.  Happy Sunday!

**I will be taking new orders starting in January 2011**

Happy Long Birthday Post To Me

Last day to order for 2010 was Monday and I have been hard at work getting orders completed and mailed out.  It has been so much fun.  I will be taking new orders starting again in January, but for now my order list is a mile long and I just want to make sure that everything is completed and in customers hands before Christmas.  I am soooo excited about Christmas.  Josh and I have already been talking about putting our Christmas decorations up…crazy I know.  And yesterday was my 28th birthday and it was such a great birthday.

My dad sent me a ton of balloons and the kids and I had McDonalds for my birthday lunch.  They love to eat at McDonalds and we just don’t do it that often so they were stoked.

Josh and I had a birthday date/Kickball tournament.

We ate at Reb Lobster before hand because I soooo love those Cheddar Bay biscuits and we hardly ever eat there.  This was a bad choice on my part for 2 reasons:

Reason #1 Lots of shrimp before a serious kickball game is not a good idea

Reason #2  When it is your birthday, the Red Lobster staff will sing you the standard Happy Birthday song, but instead of the chocolate brownie with a little scoop of ice cream that you sooo wanted after your dinner, they bring you yet another Cheddar Bay biscuit with a candle in it.  Not what I was hoping for.  Bummed!

I was really excited about our kickball tournament and really, really wanted a championship kickball shirt for my birthday.  GAME ON!

I didn’t quite get it…one run away, but my sister-in-law Jen did give me this super fantastic birthday sash.

And then everyone turned my frown…

upside down with a multitude of jump pictures.  I heart jumping pictures and they make me really happy.

Coop couldn’t hang with his aunt!

All that jumping made my birthday kickball loss just melt away.  And all was well with the end of my birthday day!  Can’t wait for next year when I have another sweet little boy to celebrate with.

I warned you this was a long post, so are you hanging in there?  Check out all the orders that have headed out.

This first piece was order by Allison in Mississippi.  She wanted an adoption piece for her new little girl’s room.  This is the first piece I have made with the U.S. outline in the background.  So pleased to do these.  Thanks so much Allison.

This next order was placed my Angie in Indiana.  Angie wanted some great Christmas gifts including some Vietnam tees and a sterling silver bracelet.  She also wanted a classy tie tee for her little boy.  Thanks so much Angie and hope everyone loves their gifts.

This next order was placed by Sandi in Oklahoma.  Sandi is about to bring home her second son from Bulragia.  She needed two special art pieces for her little boy’s room that they will be sharing.  She wanted a 18×18 Names of Jesus and this “Brothers” piece.  I love this piece.

Sandi also needed a bunch of key fobs including a whole set with the Bulgarian word grateful.  These are presents for the nannies who have been taking care of her new little guy.  Thanks so much Sandi and hope you have an amazing trip to bring your son home.

These next two Africa tees are headed to Michelle in Illinois.  Michelle wanted two Africa tees to show some love.  And some cool key fobs with meaning.  Thanks so much Michelle.

These next key fobs were ordered by Katherin in Hendersonville, Tn and Robin in Texas.  Thanks so much ladies.

This next set of key fobs were ordered by my friend Melody.  She needed some key fobs to give to some special friends.  Thanks so much Melody!

This last set of key fobs were ordered by Emily in Knoxville, Tn.  Lots and lots of Christmas gifts headed out.  Thanks so much Emily.

This Africa tee is headed to Nicole in Oregon.  She wanted a tee to show some love.  Pretty sure this color and fabric combination is my most popular and so classic.  Thanks so much Nicole.

And lastly…thanks for sticking with me on this insanely long post…this 12×24 canvas was ordered by Megan in Illinois.  Megan wanted a special gift for her dad for Christmas and this verse is a dear one to him.  Thanks so much Megan and hope you dad loves it.

So there you have it, my longest blog post every.  Had to get my birthday pictures in, especially the kickball ones…I made promises to certain people that these would appear in a blog post.  Thanks for reading and happy birthday (yesterday) to me!
