Campbell and McKinley’s Paintings

So I recently talked about my nephew Cooper, so I figured I owed it to my little nieces to talk about them too. Campbell was my first niece and she is four-years-old. Just like Coop, I was in the hospital waiting for Campbell to be born. I was there and waiting for all my nieces to be born. Campbell is truly a child after my own heart. She loves to paint, color, cut, tape, paste, anything that is artsy. She also love animals. I have painted two paintings for Campbell’s room. Her room is covered with flowers, butterflies and other girly things. As is my other niece’s room, McKinley. She just turned two and she is truly obsessed with Harper. She talks to Harper on the phone, helps take care of Harper when we come to visit and thanks God every night for Harper, along with our dog Carmen. She’s a hoot. I painted three paintings for McKinley’s room to match her bedding. They are in the bug and flower theme also. I posted some other girly paintings as well. Let me know if you see something you like. Oh, and Lyla I have not forgotten about you. You get your very own post.

Cooper’s Paintings

I am a big family girl and one thing I pride myself on is being a good aunt. As of right now I only have one little boy nephew, Cooper. Now come December, when little Jack arrives, Coop won’t be my only nephew anymore. I like to make things for my nieces (Campbell, McKinley and Lyla) and nephew’s rooms. The following paintings I painted for Cooper’s room. I painted them when he was only 3 and he actually just turned 7. That makes me feel so old. I can still remember sitting in the hospital waiting for Coop to be born. I was only 18 years old. Crazy. Anyways check out the other little boy paintings too. Love you Coop!!

Initials

There is something about decorating a child’s room that most moms and dads get excited about.  I have had the pleasure of making several items for children’s rooms and one of my most popular things is the child’s initials.  Harper doesn’t have them in her room, but only because I made her a giant H.  I will write about that in the near future.  I did want to share these with you.  My latest set was different than the rest though.  You will notice on the last picture that the middle canvas is larger than the rest.  The customer I was painting these for wanted them to look more like a monogram, so I painted the last name initial on a larger canvas and put it in the middle.  I really liked how it turned out.  These all range in prices depending on the size and any added details.

Harper Ann

It is about 12:30 in the morning and I am compelled to write about my little girl Harper Ann.  The reason I’m up you ask, well she is getting her first tooth and she just cried out and I thought I would check in on her.  She is fine, but thought I would write just a bit about her.  She is the sweetest thing to me and I never knew just how much my heart could love her. Josh (my husband) and I often talk about, “Did you ever realize that it would be like this?  That you would like her this much?”  We just could not have fathomed.  In preparation for her arrival I made several items for her.  Two being my all time favorite paintings.  I know they are my favorites solely because I painted them just for her.  Never have I painted for a more important customer than Harper.  I like how whimsical and brightly colored they are.  Also, the bold black lines give her something unique and different to stare at.  She doesn’t even have a mobile.  These keep her plenty amused.

I love you Harper Ann Kelley!!

Red Flowers

As an artist I often get stuck in a rut and paint similar things over and over again. These paintings are from a couple of years ago and I like to refer to them as the red flower phase.  But let me explain first…My mom, who is the best (love you mom), is the youngest of 12 siblings.  That’s right, I said 12 siblings.  Anyways the 12 were made up of 9 girls and 3 boys.  My Aunt Dorothy, the eldest of the sisters, was a wonderful artist herself and an interior designer.  Before she lost her battle with cancer she helped all of her sisters decorate their houses.  Her famous decorating quote about using the color red was, “The life is in the blood.”  Not only was she was referring to the warmth red brings to a home, but also that life is in the blood of Christ.  She was a great woman.  So to make a long story short, one day I painted a red flower, my mom saw it and loved it.  Soon after several of my aunts and cousins wanted one.  So is the story of the red flower phase.

My mom’s

My Aunt Tootsie’s

My Aunt Lynda’s

My cousin Beth’s

My other Aunt Linda’s

My cousin Deanna’s

I never realized just how many, very similar red flowers I had painted.
