10 Months Waiting Art Giveaway

Maybe this is it…maybe this is really the last giveaway…maybe we will see that incredibly longed for, prayed for, loved from afar, face soon.  I need to see this sweet boy, like yesterday.

I received our cd of pictures from Cheyenne from Shots by Cheyenne this week.  Wowzers…I think I’m in love.  When I looked at them I cried…a lot.  Is it normal to be completely smitten and some what attached to a cardboard sign?  Maybe not, but I love this old, dirty, spray painted, creased sign…it’s been on this journey with us and it shows that it has been well loved.

I promise I am not some crazy emotional person.  In fact, I am usually really great at keeping my emotions under control…not a big crier.  I recently was accused of being “too emotional”…to that I say…”Why yes, I am currently too emotional, but you try not having your family together…your child, for that matter, not with you…not in your house…not in your arms and all the unknowns that come with this wonderfully, emotionally charged journey.  Once you really know how this feels, well, then let’s talk about me being “too emotional”.”

So here we are 10 months on the wait list…10 months waiting to see that sweet face and it’s just not any easier…I really and truly wish it were.  I have been busting my butt to keep my mind off of the wait and the unknown and thanks to everyone who placed orders recently, my oh my, I have been keeping busy.  But unfortunately my emotions keep getting the best of me still.  So yes, I may cry before I drop my kids off at school because Huddy tells me he can’t wait to meet his new brother, and yes, I may cry because Harper goes through the list of things we will do for her new brother when he comes home, and yes, I may cry when Sol thanks God for his new brother in “Efiopia”, but this is my new normal and more than anything…God is good and He is really, really, really in control and He actually knows exactly what is best for us.  Trust and faith and understanding and trust, some more, are being engraved on my heart.  And soon, I will actually see my sons face and he will eventually be home…and believing that and knowing that as truth, is really good for my heart.

So here’s to 10 months…raise your glass.  Here’s to being another month closer to my son…my sweet, sweet, triple sweet son.  Let’s celebrate.

Up for grabs is a 11×14 canvas with a 10 word quote I truly L.O.V.E.

“Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” -Albert Einstein

As with each month, we will ship the piece straight to the winner.

  18. My husband got offered a new job with BENEFITS! So we can soon start the process of an adoption!

  19. TOTALLY WITH YOU!! Our family has been on our waiting list for almost 9 months (on the 23rd, but who’s keeping track?! ;)) and our number has remained the same for 3 months. Something good that has happened is that I have been faced with some conviction concerning who to pray for/how to pray and this week has been a great growth week after a spiritual “slap in the face”. I blogged about it here and I hope it will encourage you, too: http://teamchase4andcounting.blogspot.com/2011/09/scripture-and-sewing-getting-me-through.html

  20. Laura, I have to tell you this post (as they all have) got me!! The reason you are “emotional” is you love with “all” of your heart~ How could there be anything wrong with that!!! Be emotional, share your love and share your heart! Your children are just like you, you have instilled in them the love of Jesus and the love of family! How exciting is that, celebrate that emotional love that you have! Wish more people did! Love your creations as always you are a very special talent that shares God’s word with all you do! It’s all over your beautiful families face! I pull your blog up most every morning and I have to tell you those smiling face make my day!

  21. Randi Blanton says:

Something good that has happened…honestly? Well, we travel alot, like every weekend. Last weekend we stayed home and had a nice picnic at the park. That was good, to me at least. Its also consignment sale season so I’ve gotten my daughter’s fall/winter clothes, coats and jackets AND two Christmas presents for less than at the store, plus I’m selling my own stuff for a little extra money that is much needed. the Christmas presents were a big thing, I got a $48 set for $16.50! And this coming Sunday, my daughter turns 18 months old. Oh and my cousin had a healthy baby boy a few days ago.

  22. love the canvas- I too, hope its your last month!

  25. My something good is that I am slowly learning to feel my emotions again. I am waiting too, but for a different sort of treasure and have been really tired of the wait. Disappointment had led me to cut off my emotions, numbness was better that the pain. But slowly God has been chipping away at the wall I had built. Blessings to you and yours!

  92. Something good that has happened to me lately— This has been a difficult year for my family (we have lost some loved ones this year), but I received the most amazing gift in February- our first baby! She is such a blessing! We weren’t even sure if we could have children (my husband had cancer), and she was a glorious surprise! God knew my family needed this bright spot in the middle of a difficult year! 🙂 She is seven months old today! Time flies!!!! 🙂

  93. Good thing happening, God is still working on me. I love your work, your blog, your heart, love and passion for others. I honestly have stayed away from facebook and blogs for awhile now. My son passed away August 9th, he was two years old. And while my heart is still breaking and we ache for him everyday, we know where he is. He is with his Creator and is safe, perfect and whole. My good thing happening in my life, is that my two year old son changed my life and is still changing me. He taught me to love and accept others always. He lived life so joyfully and truly gave each day his all. When I read your post on this art piece you made, I instantly thought of my baby boy because he lived to love others. He loved Jesus and he loved praying to His Father. And though my heart yearns for him, I find peace knowing he is talking to his Jesus face to face now! Your quote in your post brought me joy, “And soon, I will actually see my sons face and he will eventually be home…and believing that and knowing that as truth, is really good for my heart” Thank you for your words that touched me so deeply. I too know I will see my sons face again, that he is home now and we believe and know that is the truth. We will keep praying for you as you wait. We understand the emotional rollar coaster of waiting and longing, as we adopted our two little blessings from Taiwan. Love and Blessings. Janna

  139. Really hoping not to see an 11-month giveaway. Something good-
My sweet adorable momma’s boy who turned 3 just before the cutoff on Aug30th went off to preschool for the first time. I was so afraid he wouldn’t be able to cope, but he took it like a champ. No tears, no fuss, he just joined right in like he’d been going to preschool his whole life. Now that makes my mother’s heart joyful.

  140. Praying for you as you wait. I am realizing more and more how no one truly gets what you are going through unless they have been through it as well. I am an emotional wreck as we wait to get cleared from Embassy. It is excruciating to be separated from your child. Thank you for sharing your heart!

This is a beautiful piece!! I am trying to find the good in everything I can each and every day. The messes the kids make from having fun, the chaos that comes with being a mom, the beautiful weather, the hugs and kisses I get each and every day. God is good!

  141. As we wait for our little boy, Creek, to be born any day now – here’s a good thing that’s happened to me….my super sweet, awesome mother in law came down a few days ago with the words, “Just rest. Make me a list and I’ll do it.” I have been able to rest for 3 days now because of her giving heart.

  142. Blogging about this giveaway at jmalcoleman.blogspot.com…”Butterflies and Ladybugs”. If you sneak over there, look in my archives from June (maybe July) and read A Chair is Filled…it is a homecoming video of a family who also adopted from Ethiopia after a long stateside wait and 9 weeks spent in country. Everytime I watch this video I think of and pray for your sweet family and other friends of mine who are waiting to complete their family.

  187. Cynthia Lewellen says:

Our family had good news – our new grandson – finally got his visa appointment – so they get to come home so we can meet Andrew – so my heart is full for y’all – esp when I see your whole family – waiting!!! And I know that this little boy has no clue all the love of family that is waiting for him! I am praying this will be the month!! It was October for our daughter the first time they adopted!! So it’s a great month!! Oh crazy me – you are meaning September!! I am laughing at myself!

  188. cassandra tannehill says:

I have a 9 year old daughter who can be quite a handful. She stubborn and strong willed. You will know every thought she is thinking because it’s going to come right out of her mouth. Sometimes it seems like she stays in trouble and drags her little brother with her. The little brother is 2 and is like day is to night compared to her. Very sweet and a little shy. Although he’s in that stage of pushing you a little bit he is generally well behaved.

The other day, I happen upon them after he was sent to his room for throwing a fit. She was telling him about Jesus and how God sent him to die for us and that God gave them me as a mommy because he knew how smart I was and that I would love and take care of them he should be nicer to mommy and take what he gets and don’t pitch a fit because that makes mommy happen and God happy too. I can’t hardly put into words how this made me feel. I must be doing something right. And the words of God are taking root in her and her sharing them is the vest blessing of all.

I pray you get to see your little ones face soon and that God blesses you as much as he has blessed me.

  200. Good- I am constantly reminded how it is a blessing to be able to say I work among friends.

  201. This was kind of cool. My Dad was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII, Pacific Theater & Iwo Jima. I have been looking for people in his unit for a long, long time. He passed away August 11. About a week after that, I heard from a guy via email whose Dad was in the same unit as my Dad. We have been sharing pictures and memorabilita that belonged to our Dads. That was good 4 me.

This piece is great. The Friday before Labor Day I arrived home to find the front door kicked. Knowing we had been burglarized, I called 911. I didn’t enter the house, but cried in the front yard for fear that my daughter’s Bassett hounds in the back room of the house were hurt or taken. That was really all that mattered. When help arrived we found the dogs just fine. Theirs took a couple of items but I know the noise made by the dogs sent the theirs on their way, I love thinking how our sweet animals scared the daylights out of an sent the thugs on their way. That really was a good day because what mattered most was not harmed.

You simply amaze me and inspire me so much…I know we don’t know each other, but I’m friends with Whitney (Pratt). We were best friends when I lived in Texas over 20 years ago. We reconnected last year in person last year and it was one of the best days of my life! 🙂 The good thing that has happened in my life that has happened recently is that my older brother Tony was a very serious motorcycle accident and lived! I thank God everyday that he is alive & he has no life threatening injuries. I can’t imagine how life would be different without him in it! He survived being thrown off his bike and landing in a farmers field. Our younger brother, Kevin, found him. Unfortunately, he had to have part of his left leg amputated, several vertebrae in his back have been fused, he has a fracture in his neck and wears a neck brace to prevent any breakage, his right femur was broken, he has a fracture in a lower vertebrae that he wears a brace to keep in from slipping and causing any paralysis, and to remain stable his is wheelchair bound for now. In about 2 weeks, he will be able to put weight on his right leg & will hopefully have his prosthesis for his left leg. I know with all the things that have happened to him, you are probably thinking ‘how is this something good that has happen to her?’…It’s good because my brother is alive!!! I still can’t believe it! Thanks for allowing me to enter your contest! I enter all the ones I happen to see you post. Someday, I hope to win! 🙂 Good luck to you and your family as you await the arrival of your son! <3
