It’s Getting Fun

Well the holidays are here and it just seems like something fun is always just around the corner now.  In fact, last Sunday my friend Courtney, Harper and I all went to see the Rockettes.

Courtney wanted to take Harper for her Christmas gift and of course Harper was totally on board.  She adores Courtney.

I have to admit though, I have been a few times in the past to the show and just wasn’t a real big fan, but when you take a 3-year-old, I was singing a different tune.  Harper LOVED it.  And I must say, that I actually teared up several times watching her watch the show and listening to her commentary, which was just down right funny sometimes.  It definitely helped that Courtney got us amazing seats…third row and on the aisle.

Thank you so much Courtney for starting our Christmas season off right.  And for thinking of Harper and loving her the way you do.  You totally rock our socks off!

I am finally nearing the end of my order list…just a few more orders left.  And I have been getting into Christmas present mode.  I am a gift giver…in fact Josh says my love language is gift giving.  I just love giving that perfect, special and (if I can help it) handmade gift.  I will search tirelessly on the internet and in stores for just the right thing…it may be a sickness.  One funny little perfect gift I have picked up so far was for my niece Campbell.

She is totally into the Elf On The Shelf.  On her Christmas list she put that what she wanted to most was a friend for Buddy (her Elf On The Shelf).  Well I just had to take that on.  And what did I find on Etsy.com (oh how I love you Etsy)…

the 2 perfect little vintage elf friends for Buddy and for only $4 (huge smile on my face)!  I just had to go ahead and give them to her early…I mean Buddy does need his friends.  Huddy was a little creeped out by them at first, but he is also terrified of cats, so this was no surprise.  Everyone soon came to love the 2 creepy little elves and then it was time for them to go home with Campbell.  She LOVED them!

Another little goody for my sister-in-law Kim is a camera strap.  Kim asked me if I could make her a camera strap for Christmas and I was delighted.  As soon as I had a little break in orders…between drying and more drying of art pieces, I set to work.  Oh how happy I am with the finished product.  I even made up some extras and sold them all on my Facebook page. If you are not a fan, you can click here and become one.

Camera straps will be $30 plus $3 shipping and I will be taking new orders for these when I open back up for new orders in January.

I also wanted to share a great site I have been checking out for a couple of months now called Nation Wares.

It is purely awesome and great site to shop on for Christmas presents.  They have a wide variety of options for gifts.  I seriously want just about everything on their site, but am in love with the clay necklaces made by Emaynesh, a young widow living in Asela Ethiopia.

Here is brief review about Nation Wares:

“In developing countries 80% – 90% of persons with disabilities are unemployed. NationWares recognizes the exclusion that persons with disabilities face around the world. Many lack complete access to resources. This marginalization makes them unable to contribute to their economy, forcing them into a life of poverty.

We want the world to stop thinking of the poor and the disabled as a burden. We want to show the world that they are creative artists and entrepreneurs that need an opportunity and an outlet to showcase their skills.

NationWares is a Social Enterprise that works alongside individuals or groups by helping to create and sustain small businesses. We make sure they grow and develop their business, and receive the required education and training to do so. Once a small business has been created, we help the entrepreneur become self-sufficient. When the entrepreneur has reached a sustainable result in their community, NationWares helps to expand the market to reach North American consumers. North Americans can then purchase these products through NationWares to help keep the cycle of employment moving.”

Please check out there “Our Heart” page HERE and see a great video about what Nation Wares is all about.

A few more orders will be posted this week.  One new order that headed out in the mail today was for Jessica in South Carolina.  She wanted a 8×10 canvas for her aunt who recently got married.  She asked that I use a picture from the location of where her aunt and uncle were married.  I really love how this turned out.  Thanks so much Jessica.

And I am super excited to share that for every month we are on the waiting list I will be doing a special art piece giveaway.  We will have been on the wait list for one month on December 15th, so each giveaway will take place on the 16th of each month.  I think it will be a little hard to let these art pieces go, but what a fun way to celebrate being a little closer to seeing our sweet little boy’s face.  So check back each 16th of each month for a chance to win.  I have already been working on ideas for each piece and am just so excited about these pieces.  We’ll see!  Happy Thursday!
