Missing Home

For those of you who don’t know, Josh, Harper, Carmen and myself have been living with mom for what seems like forever now, while our house is getting some renovations done to it.  Now it’s not mom, she has been great — cooking dinner, giving Harper baths, buying good desserts for Josh’s lunch and so on and so on.  But for anyone who knows Josh and me, we love being at our home.  Josh loves our yard, watering all the plants, mowing the yard (yes the man loves to mow our yard), playing with Harper on our swing set and listening to ballgames in the evening on our porch.  I am going through creative withdrawls not having access to any of my artsy supplies.  I even forgot my art journal.  I haven’t created one thing in almost 2 weeks now.  I am DYING to start a new project and especially something for Hudson’s room.  Sometimes I feel like I could crawl out of my skin.  But time seems to be hopefully coming to an end at Grammy’s house.  Our house will hopefully be all done by this weekend and life will be back to what we call normal.  So I will hopefully have some new pieces to post in the next coming week.  Oh and Harper tried her first taste of an OREO today.  Yea for yummy desserts at Grammy’s.  And last thing, I promise, we welcomed a new niece into the world last Friday at 10:03, Meiya Qin Kelley.  She’s gorgeous and we love her a ton already.

Pigeon Bag

My sister-in-law Jen is a first grade teacher at Madison Creek Elementary in Goodlettsville.  At their school each room has a theme and Jen’s theme is The Pigeon.  Now if you have no idea what I am talking about when I say The Pigeon, then you are truly missing out.  The wonderful, amazing children’s author, Mo Willems, is the creator of The Pigeon.  These are by far my favorite kid’s books and that says a lot if you know me and Harper’s book collection.  We have tons of Mo Willems books and they are just the best.  Let me make some recommendations while I am at it:  Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus, Don’t Let The Pigeon Stay Up Late, The Pigeon Finds A Hot Dog and The Pigeon Wants a Puppy.  Mr. Willems also writes other books that are just as wonderful and we are also the proud owners of these as well:  Knuffle Bunny, Knuffle Bunny Too and Leonardo The Terrible Monster.  You will have to forgive my little book reviews here, but I am just a huge advocate for good children’s literature.  So back to the subject at hand…Jen’s pigeon themed room.  So Jen needed a pigeon tote bag that she could send home with her “Bus Driver of the Week” (read a pigeon book and you will understand) so she asked if I could make her a  bag.  Well I got right on it and I must say it turned out pretty well.  And Jen loved it.  I hope all her student’s love it too.  Now if you have little ones you must go out to the library or book store and check out any of Mo Willems books today.  You will thank me later.

Little Bird

This order was placed by Melody for a family member’s new little baby girl Jolie Piper. Melody sent me the link to little Jolie’s bedding and then just let me run with it. So Fun!! I decided to do an 8×10 mixed media piece using tons of paper, stitching, charcoals, pastels and ink. I love how it turned out. I also purchased a little easel for the piece to sit on. Thanks Melody for your business.

Twin Burpcloths

This order was placed by Dana for a burpcloth set for twins.  A friend of hers is having twins in October, a little boy named Nathan and a little girl named Lucy.  The soon-to-be-dad is in the National Guard, so Dana wanted Nathan’s burpcloth to have lots of camo and the letter “n”.  The soon-to-be-mom loves flowers, so Dana wanted Lucy’s burpcloth to have a flower and the letter “L”.  I like how each burpcloth reflects the mom and dad individually.  I hope they love them and thanks again so much for your business Dana.

No Pink

This order was placed by my sister-in-law Katy for two onesie and burpcloth sets.  One of her friends is having a baby girl (named Harper :)), but the friend is not crazy about pink.  So no pink it was.  Katy wanted the recent bird set I did and the umbrella set I did a while back.  I think they turned out great and with no pink.  They are still girly and sweet.  I hope the mom-to-be is pleased with my no pink materials.  Thanks Katy.
