Welcome To The 21st Century

Hope you all had a good weekend.  Mine was nice…still busy, but really great.  I’m excited for life to slow down a bit this week.  Last week was cray…for lack of better slang words.  I need a down week.

My new current liquid obsession is a cranberry sprite from Sonic.  Oh goodness.  There is just something about this sweet little concoction that can make my day so much better.

My friend Ashley mailed me a giant box filled with 30 different presents.  Harper and I laid in bed and opened all of them.  Too fun.  Love you Ashley.

This was my favorite thing Ashley sent.  Forget the Buffalo Wild Wings card or the Sonic card or super cute shirt.  The Lassy Legs beat them all.  And you’re probably wondering, “So does it work?”  Well, yep it does.  It especially works if you’re goal is smooth, hairless legs that you get by rubbing your skin raw with fine grit sandpaper.  Like my legs were all dusty afterwards just like sanding down a piece of lumber accompanied by lots of little, what felt like, carpet burns.

I have been wanting Noonday & Matilda Jane’s sweet collaboration of a bag called The Weekender for a while now.  Courtney totally rocked it out and got me one of my birthday.  It made carrying all my packages to the post office way cooler.  Love it Courtney.

I heart the self service machine at our post office.  I use it 99.9% of the time.  And mainly when the post office is closed…like Sundays.  Happy mail is on its way.

I have lots of “thank you” notes to write for my fantastic birthday.  I’m always looking for some good thank you notes and I loved these at Target.  Hand writing a thank you note is something I will never let technology take over.  Never. #dyingart

Josh got me an iPhone for my birthday.  Now you may recall I just recently entered the world of texting.  So a smart phone was waaaay out of my league, but apparently Josh thought I was ready.  I have to admit I am quite over the moon about my leap into technology, but wow! it is confusing.  I did get on Instagram…come find me {pitterpatterart} and help me out.  I seriously need an iPhone class.  I’m such a nerd.  Do you have any tips or tricks?  Any must have apps?  Anything to help an un-tech savvy crafty sister out?  I have downloaded the Joanns, Hobby Lobby and Michaels apps.

I think Ashley may be getting tired of Face Timing with me to tell me how to do something.  She just is a wealth of somewhat helpful iPhone knowledge…or I just like to see her face because we live too far apart.

I did start looking for an iPhone case and when I did some googling I ran across THIS POST on how to design your own iPhone case.  Super easy.  Super fun.  And just like that I headed over to Uncommon, uploaded my picture and ordered my iPhone case…and took my first ever Instagram photo.  Yah!

Since that first picture, I have sort of been an Instagram fool.  Way too many pictures.  It probably doesn’t help that my camera is still broken.  I just have so many questions…like…when you take a picture with Instagram does it have to upload to your feed every single time and how can I get my Instagram pictures in my regular photo stream on my phone?  It’s all just so confusing.

I really want to master these iPhone shannanigans.  I want to use it with confidence and without confusion and a million bajillion questions.  I really want to be hip and cool and “down with it”…is “down with it” even hip and/or cool verbage…see what I’m working with here.  I want to be cool enough to wear these jeans.  It would appear that cool ladies who know how to use their smart phones would wear these.  I want to be them.

Please help!

Happy Monday!

  1. Whatever you do, get the Otterbox case! The “defender” is $50 but it’s worth it’s weight in gold. No joke. Like…it’s water proof and fall proof. It’s saved my iPhone several times. And with those sweet wee Kelley’s, you will need it!

  2. You will get the hang of it. Love the Pinterest app, plus you can find several iPhone cheat sheets on there to help master the basics. I too am not all that tech savvy but when the hubs got me my iPhone 2 years ago I wasn’t really sure. I’m still using that same one and it works great and I think I got the hang of it better than I thought I would. I have an incipio case for mine and it works just fine for me and I have rowdy kids who tend to drop and chew on it 🙂

  3. My husband just got me an iPhone, too! (And I had just started texting a few months before that.) I, too, am an Instagram junkie now and I think I’m scaring off my friends with my crazy frequent posts of my kiddos. (I still don’t know what I’m doing. And what’s with the hashtags???) Good luck!

  4. Ha! So funny! I still have a “dumb” phone and have asked for an iphone for my birthday (1 month away!). Please learn so you can educate me! 🙂 Love the photos though and sorry I’m no help for your iphone issues! My 2 yr old probably knows more than me… oh well! Happy Monday!

  5. I thought I was the last person in America to get an iphone when I got mine a few months ago. I love instagram!! I also like a little app called Cuptakes that helps you make cute backgrounds and screensavers for your phone. I also use an app called MealBoard that I put all my recipes in so that if I am at the grocery store, I can look the ingredients for different meals up. It will also help you plan meals and make grocery lists, but I usually don’t even have the time to do all that. It takes a while to get all the recipes in, but I think it’s worth it not to have to make extra trips back to Kroger 🙂 That’s all I know. I have always wanted a sketch app for when inspiration strikes, but I have yet to find one that I like, if anyone has any tips on that.

  6. So, unfortunately, I don’t have any iphone advice for you b/c I don’t own one (+ hey, I’m actually still in the non-texting world)! My q for you is what super-fun stuff did you use to wrap the gifts you mailed? I assume it’s not regular wrapping paper b/c wouldn’t that tear very easily in the mail? When I actually do mail stuff like that, I never wrap it in a fun print b/c I didn’t realize you could – way to mix up the boring old brown exteriors!

Marianna…love it 🙂 It is actually wrapping paper and then covered in clear package tape. Works like a charm. Hope this helps.

Love Instagram but never take pictures through Instagram. The regular camera takes waaay better pictures. Then you can open Instagram and upload the photo you want to filter.

hahaha!! I love your post today!! Well, I love it everyday . . . But, I could so relate to everything today. I love, love, love Sonic’s Cranberry Sprite. It’s my go to drink when I’m trying to not drink DP 🙂 And, I also got my first smart phone today (the iphone 4s) and have taken way too many pictures with Instagram!! The only other app I have downloaded so far are Flashight* (which claims to be the brightest flashlight ever). Thanks for making me smile every day!

  9. Love that u had a great birthday! You certainly deserved it! Next time u r at Sonic try the cranberry limeade-it’s the bomb! I know u will love it it u like the cranberry sprite. Happy Monday : )

  10. I love instagram. You don’t have to save your photos to your camera roll. To change it go into IG in your profile (the icon on the bottom right) . Click the wheel in the top right corner. At the bottom there s a section for SAVE TO LIBRARY. you can change it however you prefer. I’m @chvassar on instagram. I’ll look you up.

You should download Cake Doodle for you and Harper. It’s right up your alley!

  11. I hope you enjoy your “big girl” phone as much as I have with mine! RedStamp and Pinterest are my current faves but my must-haves are: Amazon, Facebook, All Recipes and our library’s app.

  12. Hey Laura have been out of town & out of touch with email and FB since Monday:( Am so happy for your new phone ~ I am praying & believing I get one soon. I was just in Sam’s Club and they have an awesome book covering ALL the in’s and out’s of the I-Phone. It is not one of the “dummy books” (is actually put together by someone else) but is near them. I was so fascinated I stood there perusing for like 30 minutes. It is very very helpful. Might want to check it out. Blessings your way. You are special.
