Watermelon Craft

A few random things:

I made this Failproof-Easy-Delicious Chicken Noodle Soup {in a crock pot}.  It’s fantastic…I promise.

If you are looking for a good, easy cheesecake…look no further.  I made The BEST Cheesecake EVER in the history of cheesecake and it rocks…hard.  Delicious every.single.time.  Seriously, awesome.

A sweet blog friend, Sara, from Australia set up a Facebook page to organize a day of prayer for our next little boy on May 20th.  I am super humbled & amazed & overwhelmed by her crazy kindness.  If you feel so inclined, HEAD OVER and check out the page she set up.  Thanks again so much Sara.  As always…you are way too kind.

The boys are feeling better today, but poor Huddy is still trying to shake this funky junk he has.  He did manage to crawl off the couch for a little craft time this morning.  Shortly, he was back on the couch or in the bathroom.  Poor little dude.

I’m leaving tomorrow for Craft Weekend so today has been a bit crazy already.  I wanted to make sure we got our weekly planned craft in, so we went with something pretty simple and quick today.

The wee Kelleys dig watermelon and with the hot summerish days we have been having I thought making watermelons would be right up their little crafty alleys.  I was right 🙂  Again, this is something I did in my kindergarten classroom.  I should probably try thinking up some new ideas.

So here is what you need:  Red watermelons traced, green rinds traced, scissors, glue and ink pad.

First, they cut out the red watermelon part.

Next, they cut out the green rind part.

Then they glued those pieces together.

Lastly, they used an ink pad to make fingerprint seeds.

And just like that you have some cute watermelons.  Super easy and fun!

Harper always gets done way faster than the boys, so I made her a simple watermelon math sheet using the same concept as the craft, but she had to add the seeds together.  She adored this.

Now go get crafty with your kiddos.  I’m off to pack and fix lunches and everything else 🙂  Hope you have a grand day.

Happy Wednesday!

  1. Laura,
Seriously, this crafting with your kids thing is really starting to inspire me to do the same with mine! I have way too many cute-sy things left from teaching Kindergarten to NOT be using them with my little ones. Thank you for the ideas and for reminding me that I have sweet students to teach right here at home. You are a blessing!
