Happy late 4th of July. We had so much going on for the 3rd and the 4th that the days completely slipped by in complete fun firework chaos. On Tuesday evening we did our annual canoe firework adventure with Susan. Josh’s family all goes and we canoe out on Old Hickory lake and take front row seats directly under a big local firework display. It’s quite magical. All I could think about was how last year, we spent the day at Mom’s and then rushed over just in time to get in the canoes. I really miss her. And I know she would be crazy, crazy about Amon.

The firework display is right up close and completely lit up the pitch blackness on the lake. Harper’s face when they started was so great. All the wee Kelleys had a great time.

Harper had camp again on the 4th during the day, so Josh, me, the boys and Courtney hit up the pool in the morning. We were on and off at the pool the entire day and later grilled out with Josh’s family.

The boys were SOOOOO worn out. They took quite a few rests at the pool. It’s so funny their dynamic when Harper isn’t around to lead. I really love them.

I’ll give my kids major props on going without sleep and having super fun, long days. Everyone tends to stay on the happy side, but just get a little loopy. And you can totally tell Sol needs sleep based on the way he walks. Clumsiness is a major issue for a tired Solomon. He and I took a seriously hard nap shortly before dinner at Josh’s parent’s house. He’s my snuggler and I really, adore that.

Yes, those are diapers and wipes piled up past the couch. Some family and friends held a diaper drive for Amon while we were in Ethiopia. Everything is still at my in-laws house because we literally have no place to put it all in our house…that is a good problem to have
Huddy powered through the day, but when the fireworks started he was out cold. Yep, slept right through all the fireworks. He was like a big weighted, heat blanket. My entire body chest down fell asleep. This morning I told him how he had fallen asleep…he was a little bummed with himself. It was super cute.

So after two 11pm bedtime nights in a row, the wee Kelleys are spent. I had to wake everyone up this morning and everyone is napping now. It was fun though…watching them have such a good time. It was a pretty good 4th. I tend to think next year will be even better with Mr. Amon in tow. Just got to get him home.
Happy Thursday!

Your fireworks show on the lake in a canoe sounds AWESOME!!! I wish there was somewhere around here to do the same! Happy 4th!
