July Bible Journaling Class

You’re officially invited to July’s Bible Journaling Class.  I am moving class towards the end of July since I will be in Africa the first part.  Here are the details:

When:  Saturday, July 25th

Time: 1pm-4pm

Where:  Our house.

Cost: $50

All the money will be used to do some good in this world.  March’s class we raised enough money to fund a Fun Day for over 150 kids in Swaziland Africa which will take place on our trip in July.  April’s class funds were used to help purchase items and assemble welcome baskets for ladies entering the Magdalene Houses.  May’s funds blessed an office of 60 social workers and their supervisors with a catered lunch and over 600 blue ink pens.  June’s funds went towards supplies to take to the kids at the Ngungwane carepoint in Swaziland…crafts, bubble wands, solar lanterns, markers, treats and gifts for the sweet grandmother’s who cook everyday for the kids, etc.  July is still up in the air where the money is headed, but we are praying for God to show us exactly where the funds need to go.

This class will be 3 hours in length and we will talk about the process of Bible journaling and I will share how I go about this each day.  We will also talk about supplies and tips, tricks and techniques I use.  There will be time for questions throughout the class as well as time for you to do some of your own Bible journaling and practicing.

Each person will bring their own supplies.  You can read about the supplies I use on THIS POST, but please feel free to bring the items which work for you.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PURCHASE THE ITEMS I USE.

There are 16 spots available for this class.  If you would like a spot email me at pitterpatterart at gmail dot com or Message Me Here.  You can reserve more than one spot, so chat with your family and friends and make it a girls time.  This will also be a kid free time…sorry, no kiddos.

I hope you will join me.  This is a favorite time in each month.  I love meeting all you awesome ladies and talking about the Bible and creativity…such a treat for me.  Let me know if you have any questions and do hope to see you there!

Happy Wednesday.

DCS Lunch

Each month it is so fun and awesome to see how God uses the Bible journaling class funds.  For May’s class we settled on spoiling a local DCS office full of social workers and their supervisors.  This is our caseworker’s office and our foster daughter’s caseworker’s office too.  When talking with our caseworker about needs for the office she said they always needed blue ink pens.  I wanted to do 2 things with the money we raised 1) I wanted to help meet a need and 2) I wanted to make this office of over worked and under thanked people feel loved and appreciated.

We threw around several ideas, but finally went with a catered lunch for the whole office and of course, blue ink pens.  I did some calling around and finally went with a local restaurant called Crave our friend Brian recommended.  I let my fingers do the walking, as my Mom use to say, and called first to see if the lunch was going to fit our budget.  We had right at $650 to work with.  Jocelyn at Crave was a dream.  I told her what we were trying to accomplish along with our budget and she laid out all my lunch options and got us way under budget.  Being under budget allowed us to purchase 600 new blue ink pens and provide sodas, waters and ice for the lunch as well.

When thinking through what kind of food we wanted to provide the office, we kept in mind that the majority of these people are crazy busy and on the go most of the day.  We wanted the lunch to be nice, but also something they could grab and take with them.  I finally decided on gourmet boxed lunches which included a full sandwich, homemade chips and cookie.  We did a variety of smoked turkey, honey ham, italian, club and buffalo chicken.  Each lunch was boxed, labeled and included all the condiments and silverware…something easy to grab and go if needed.  When I saw how carefully put together each homemade lunch was, I cried.  I just really wanted this to be special and Crave did just that!

I always want our kids to be apart of these things and serve along side us, but the boys ended up having baseball camp today…you win some, you lose some.  Harper and I made the pick up and delivery and Josh Kelley also met us at the DCS office to help unload and set everything up.

As we were making 10 different trips to and from our car and into the DCS office Harper said, “I see why we brought them lunch.  They are all so excited.”  And they really were.  It’s amazing what you can do when people come together and decide to give a little of what they have.  Thank you to all the ladies who came to May’s class and bought up extra goodies.

And then Amon decided to be a yahoo and we headed to the ER right after we got back.  He’s fine, but our day was high-jacked.  Never a dull moment around here.  We’ve been home shortly and everyone is ready for bed time already.

Happy Thursday!

Hey Saturday!

Hi!  Hope your weekend is going awesome.  Just wanted to drop in for 2 reminders:

1.  The Gifter Project nomination time is officially closed.  You guys have just killed us with all your kind words about your special people.  It’s too much.  I love it.  Thanks to everyone who shared with us.  Now it’s time to get down to making some art 🙂

2.  Next Saturday is June’s Bible Journaling Class.  I have 5 spots left.  Let me know if you’d like one or two or five 🙂  Email or message me HERE.

Happy Saturday!

Weekend Hightlight

Saturday was May’s Bible journaling class and it was so so much fun.  Super great group of ladies,  great conversation, honesty and laughter.  I loved it all.  I wanted to squeeze each one of them.  I miscounted our final total and we actually raised right at $600 dollars to bless an office of 60 state social workers here in Tennessee.  I am crazy excited about this.  We’re looking into prices for catering and gift cards and blue ink pens.  If you would like to donate blue ink pens, I would gladly accept.  I would not turn you down 🙂  I would love to give them all the blue ink pens of the world…such a simple request.  Can’t wait to see where we land in all our thoughts on how to make this amazing group of people feel special.

I became all re-smitten with THESE cookies as I got everything ready Saturday.  Then I had a little photo shoot with the plate of cookies because I couldn’t stop looking at them.  I told myself I wouldn’t eat any more cookies until after the class…and then I ate cookies anyways.  Sigh.  I’m kind of a lost cause people.

Two of the sweet ladies who came brought kettlecorn popcorn and macaroons.  I almost died.  Thank you so much Heather and Jenny!!  I will honestly tell you there were only 2 macaroons left by Sunday morning, but I did share…a little bit.

The next Bible journaling class will be Saturday June 6 from 1-4.  I will post all the details on Wednesday!

So excited to see what we do with next month’s money and what group of ladies will come together for the afternoon.

Happy Monday!

Happy Tuesday.

March Bible Journaling Class

*So because I would expect nothing less of my frazzled snow-bound brain last week, on Friday I completely forgot to publish this post.  Can I blame a week of being snowed in with all these wildly wonderful little crazies?!?!?  Anyways, here you go.*

Sometimes I wonder what in the world God is doing.  I think about the thoughts and ideas He fills my mind and heart with.  I’ve never heard God “speak” in an audible way and 9 times out of 10 I don’t think I understand what God wants me to.  This year though, I am committed to attempting what I think He wants me to do.  I want to attempt…move to action…and not be paralyzed by the fear of failure or how it may appear to others.  I’m a prideful person.  Everyday I ask God to take away my pride…decrease me and increase Him.  I don’t like failure.  It’s not something I would choose and often it keeps me from even making an attempt, but not this year.  This year will be one of lots of attempts and probably a lot of failure and maybe mix in a few successes, which God will deserve all the glory for because I’m 98.7% hot mess.  So here goes another attempt 🙂

You’re officially invited to my Bible Journaling Class.  I do hope to offer the class more than once, but I’m going to take it month-by-month.  I think a lot of good could come from this and I am already sitting in anticipation of what God will do.  I’m opening up our home and setting out tables and chairs and I think it will be a really amazing time.  Here are the details:

When:  Saturday, March 14th

Where:  Our house.

(Josh Kelley is taking all the wee ones out so imagine all the kid freeness.)

Cost: $50

All the money will be used to throw a fun day for the kids at the Ngungwane carepoint in Swaziland Africa.  There will be a bounce house and games and face painting and a big special meal all for the precious kiddos.  I am so excited about this opportunity.  Cost of this fun day is $800.

This class will be 3 hours in length and we will talk about the process of Bible journaling and I will share how I go about this each day.  We will talk about the process, supplies and all the tips, tricks and techniques I use.  There will be time for questions throughout the class as well as time for you to do some of your own Bible journaling.

Happy Monday.
