Sugar Edition

It’s no secret I’m a lover of food…particularly the sweet variety.  It’s in my blood.  I was born into it.  I own it and claim it.  You know it, I know it, everybody knows it.  I am a firm believer in baked goods…and pretty much any other sugary treats.  I just can’t help it.  I even take my Dessert Pinterest board very seriously.  I’ve actually tried most of the recipes.  If it sucks, it gets the boot.  If it’s good, I keep it.  No room for crappy baked goods people.  Just.No.Room.

I’m back on my “no sweets during the week” kick.  I’m a big time emotional eater and have to keep my sugar in check because I will straight up run to it instead of Jesus.  All week I’ve been thinking about baking.  I love to bake.  And I always share.  I know better than to keep too many sweet items in our house.  So I bake and share.  Every week.  I love having a little list of new things I can’t wait to try.  Here’s where my head is today:

Mini Soft Frosted Sugar Cookies

Honey Bun Coffee Cake

No-Fail Blondies

Twix Thumbprint Cookies

My Favorite Brownies

Half-Way To Heaven Peanut Butter Cookies

Iced Sugar Cookies (melted icing)

And I’m always a sucker for a chocolate chip cookie recipe.  Softbatch Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Cookies

(None of these are my pictures.  All straight from the source the recipe is linked to, so photo props to the owners.)

I made Josh Kelley choose what I should tackle first and he went with the My Favorite Brownies recipe.  I kind of can’t wait.

So do you have any dessert recipes I absolutely MUST try????  I would love, love, love to hear them if you do.  Please share.  From one sugar lover to the next.

Happy Friday.  Happy Weekend.  Enjoy it.

  1. I’ve got one!!!
    Reece’s pb cup Brookies!
    You need
chocolate chip cookie dough(premade totally works)
    Reece’s pb cups
    Brownie mix
Brownie pan at walmart. It has 12 individual square cups so you get perfectly shaped all crispy outside gooey inside brownies!) it’s over by the baking sheets and isn’t that weird as seen in tv one with the curves. Like a cupcake pan but squares.

Ok it’s real hard to make this (ha ha no it isn’t) but you smoosh 1 1/2 pieces of cookie in the bottom of each cup, one Reece’s turned upside down goes next, top with brownie mix. Bake 350 for about 30-35. Gonna be gooey. Let them settle. Oh man so so good!!!! I’ll post a pic on your fb.

  2. Here’s one of our favorites that my girlie loves to make all by herself. 🙂 We are not homemade-cookers/bakers at our house, so we use all pre-made ingredients, but you could totally make your own:
One extra-serving graham cracker pie crust
One regular size package of Chips Ahoy cookies (not the chewy ones). We’ve tried other brands of cookies for this, and we like Chips Ahoy the best. We also like to use the ones with peanut butter chips! 🙂
A regular size tub (8 oz??) of cool whip
    About a cup-ish of milk
One at a time, dip each cookie in the milk for about 3 seconds, then place in the bottom of the pie crust to form a solid layer (some spaces are ok – you don’t have to break cookies to fill in all the space unless you just want to!). Divide your cool whip into thirds (we just draw a little peace sign on top with a spoon 🙂 ). Cover the cookies with 1/3 of the cool whip, then repeat – cookies, cool whip, cookies, and end with cool whip on top. Sprinkle the crumbs from the cookie package on top, cover, and refrigerate for a couple of hours. The longer it sits, the softer the cookies will get. Delicious! And my girlie loves being able to say she made desert all by herself!

  3. I don’t have a recipe to share, but this:

“I’m a big time emotional eater and have to keep my sugar in check because I will straight up run to it instead of Jesus.”

Oh, PREACH. I’m taking a complete break from sweets right now because they have become a problem, truly. I’ll enjoy pinning your recipes to try in a few weeks!
