December 1

Well it’s December 1st and today we began our Kindness Advent.  And although it is in the 60s today, I feel like we’re headed in the right direction…towards Christmas.

So today we took a snack and coffee to a Salvation Army bell ringer.  The wee Kelleys loved it.  We had three items to deliver, perfect for three little pairs of hands.

And the lady was super nice and kind and wanted hugs from each of them.  Melt my heart.

It got them excited about the rest of the month and they asked feverishly in the car on the way home what we were doing tomorrow.

I think this month is definitely going to be a good one.

Did you spread any kindness today?  If so, what did you do?  I would love to hear how it went.

Happy Saturday.

  1. Today we donated a toy to charity. 🙂

  2. We also do a kindness advent, along with our Jesse Tree! Today we gave a lady coming into Michaels a gift card as we were leaving. She was so sweet and thankful and wanted to hug my daughter. She said she really needed some love today. Just minutes prior I prayed God would send the perfect person in as we were leaving, He’s cool like that!

  3. We took puzzles, crosswords, and peanut brittle to a nursing home. We had an opportunity to visit with some of the residents. With 5 kids under 5 they did a great job interacting.

  4. I gave thank you cards to the children’s piano teachers at the recital today.

  5. Yesterday we ended up starting early by bringing my daughter’s teacher and family a meal/groceries. Their family signed papers the night before at midnight to foster three children indefinitely who are family to them. Today we picked up litter on the road and ended up with 4 huge bags. It’s quite disturbing how much trash ends up on the roads. We are really looking forward to our month ahead and hopefully continuing a better attitude of kindness in the future as well. I love how my husband is getting into this too. A few days ago he invited a customer out for breakfast and a chat and then gave the girl in the drive through window a big tip since she handled a situation so well. Thanks again for bringing this Advent idea to our attention! I’m sure many people are joining in after reading of your actions.

  6. We started today too! We paid for the order of the car behind us at McDonald’s. We left a little card for the clerk to hand to the driver. After she read it, we saw her smiling and waving to us in our rear view mirror…so fun !!!

  7. we taped quarters and a special note on gum ball machines at the grocery store:) my 9 year old constantly was sneaking back to see if they were still there, while my 6 year old was wondering if he could use one of the quarters:P. you inspired me to do this again– LOVE IT!!!!! we’re making blubbery muffins for our garbage men this week, buying starbucks for the car behind us, and i want to make snack bags for those we see begging at street corners– my kids ALWAYS want to give money- and i usually don’t have change on me- so we’re going to make a snack bag- a fruit strip, granola bar, a card that the kids make, and then a few dollars and then try to always have some in the car to give to those who need them.
